Hotels:
Hotels are required to be accessible under the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). People with disabilities should make clear what
types of supports they will need (facility access: ground floor,
railings in bath tub, shower chair, etc., communication access - TTY
machine, computer, etc.) and hotels are required to provide such
accommodations. Contact individual properties and ask them if they are
accessible, ask specific questions about access requirements you
personally need.
Kauai Hotels
Sheraton in Poipu - 808-742-1661 http://www.sheraton-kauai.com
This is a great place to stay right on the beach. The room we stayed in was good size with wide doors and a huge bathroom. There are lots of sidewalks to cruise along Poipu Beach, 2 different pools, a hot tub, picnic tables and lounge chairs. It all seemed quite accessible and right off the sidewalk is a strip of grass and then the sand so you are right at the ocean. There are also nice, accessible places to eat indoors and out with activities like a fitness room and ping pong.
Cottages:
Waimea Plantation Cottages - 808-338-1625 www.waimeaplantation.com
This is a sweet place on the West Shore in Waimea Town. They have 1 ADA approved cottage with a ramp, roll-in shower and grab bars. There are several others that have ramps but no roll-in shower or bars and they can provide you with a shower bench. There is a paved main road and some paved paths but the surrounding area is mostly grass which is all flat. There are hammocks and lawn chairs all around and it is a very relaxing, peaceful setting. This is beach front property but there is one issue if you want to swim in the ocean. It's very close to where the Waimea River enters the ocean so the water is usually reddish brown and not the best for swimming. There is a nice pool on the property that you can easily get to and has steps and a handrail. Check the website for more info, slideshow and virtual tour. The 2bdrm, 1bath ADA cottage rents for $281-$352 a night depending on what time of year.
Condos/Houses:
South-shore:
 - 2bdrm 2bath rents for $444-700 a night depending on time of year
- Parrish Kauai, an on-site management company that has accessible homes and condos for rent. They have different room configurations and pricing available.

Mountain Cabin:
There is a rustic little cabin at Kokee State Park that is fully wheelchair accessible and rents for about $90 a night. It has a gradual incline ramp up to it, has wide doorways, a big open bathroom and hardwood floors. Has a full kitchen, sleeps 5-6 people, and has power but no TV or phone. It's close to some great lookout spots and to the lodge which has a mini mart with tourist stuff to buy and a restaurant. The elevations is about 4000' and it can get cold and stormy so definitely bring pants and a sweatshirt. The cabin has a wood stove and the lodge sells wood. It's a beautiful drive to Kokee and you get to view the Waimea Canyon and NaPali Coast from 4 different easily accessible lookouts, most with restrooms.
Call the lodge for reservations at 808-335-6061http://www.kokeelodgekauai.com
- These are the only options besides a hotel that we are aware of. Hope to find more to add in the future. The hotels should all be accessible but make sure to ask specifics before you book.
