Beaches

First and Foremost, most of the beaches on Kauai have strong currents and many aren't the best for swimming unless experienced.  We are not promoting any activities,  just want to give you valuable information to make your own decisions.  Check out the beach safety information and then click the beaches on the map below for a detailed explanation and pictures!

  • Watch the ocean for at least 20 min before you get in.  Check for fast moving water and swirling water in seemingly calm areas.  These along with big waves are good signs not to go in the water.
  • Be aware of physical hazards such as rocks, piers and breakwaters.
  • Look for undertow currents and dangerous rip currents.  If your unsure, ask a life guard.
  • Never fight a rip current.  Go with the flow and conserve energy.
  • Don't swim alone.  It's safer with a friend and try to make sure there are other people around in case you get in trouble.
  • Look for safety information like warning signs and flags.
  • When in doubt, don't go out!
